Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using TruMint. By creating an account you agree to be bound by these terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use this service.

1. Not Financial Advice

TruMint is an informational platform only. Nothing on this platform — including portfolio summaries, holdings data, investment suggestions, net-worth calculations, or any other output — constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. All information is provided for general informational purposes. You should seek independent professional advice before making any financial or investment decision. TruMint accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information provided by this platform.

2. FCA Disclaimer

TruMint is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Nothing on this platform constitutes a financial promotion, a personal recommendation, or regulated investment advice as defined under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA). You should seek advice from an FCA-authorised financial adviser before making any investment decisions.

3. Investment Risk

All investments carry risk, including the risk of losing some or all of your capital. Past performance shown on this platform is not indicative of future results. TruMint does not guarantee any particular investment outcome, return, or performance. You are solely responsible for all investment decisions you make.

4. Tax Calculations & HMRC Filing

TruMint's preliminary tax calculation tools — including Capital Gains Tax (CGT) estimates and Income Tax summaries computed from your imported records — are provided for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any such estimate. Tax law is complex and subject to change; our figures may not reflect your full tax position.

TruMint also provides a Making Tax Digital (MTD) filing service that submits your CGT disposals and Self Assessment final declaration directly to HMRC via HMRC's official API, on your explicit request. When you use this feature:

  • You authorise TruMint to communicate with HMRC on your behalf via OAuth 2.0.
  • You are shown the tax liability calculated by HMRC (not by TruMint) before any declaration is submitted.
  • Each submission requires your explicit confirmation — no data is sent to HMRC without your active consent at the point of filing.
  • TruMint acts as a software intermediary only. We do not provide personal tax advice.
  • You remain legally responsible for the accuracy of all information submitted to HMRC and for meeting all Self Assessment deadlines.

We strongly recommend you verify all figures with a qualified accountant or tax adviser before filing. TruMint accepts no liability whatsoever for penalties, interest charges, or other consequences arising from incorrect or incomplete information submitted to HMRC via this platform.

5. Government Gateway Connection

TruMint's HMRC filing feature connects to HMRC via OAuth 2.0. When you link your HMRC account:

  • You are redirected to HMRC's Government Gateway to grant TruMint permission to read and write your MTD Income Tax records.
  • TruMint stores only OAuth access and refresh tokens — your Government Gateway username and password are never seen or stored by TruMint.
  • Tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with keys managed in Google Cloud KMS.
  • Refresh tokens expire after 18 months. After expiry you must reconnect via the filing wizard.
  • You can revoke TruMint's HMRC access at any time by visiting the Government Gateway and removing TruMint from your authorised applications.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

TruMint uses AI-assisted processing for certain features:

  • Transaction enrichment: transaction descriptions may be analysed by AI to suggest spending categories and merchant names. This is supplementary only and does not affect your tax records or HMRC submissions.
  • P60 document extraction: AI is used to extract income figures from uploaded P60 PDFs. All extracted figures are presented to you for review and confirmation before use in any tax calculation.

No AI-generated output is submitted to HMRC automatically. All submissions require your explicit confirmation. We apply human-in-the-loop review for tax-relevant data and you remain responsible for verifying figures before filing.

7. Data Security & Breach Notification

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal and financial data, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your account, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law (including UK GDPR), but TruMint accepts no liability for losses, damages, or harm arising from unauthorised access to, disclosure of, or destruction of your data.

8. Third-Party Services

TruMint connects to third-party services (including Plaid for bank and broker data aggregation). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or security of data provided by these services, or for any outages or errors on their part. Your use of third-party integrations is subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies.

9. Data Use & Privacy

By using TruMint you consent to the collection and processing of your personal and financial data as described in our Privacy Policy. We will not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with service providers necessary to operate the platform (e.g. Firebase, Plaid) under appropriate data processing agreements.

10. Acceptable Use

You must not use TruMint to process data belonging to third parties without their consent. You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to the platform without our written permission. Any use of the platform for unlawful purposes is strictly prohibited.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TruMint, its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) this platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms or applicable law. You may delete your account at any time via account settings.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of TruMint after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
